Philosophical Perspective

The proposed PA academic standards for the Arts and Humanities in relation to the history and culture of the state of PA, is a tool for self examination of the educator while in the process of designing Arts and Humanities lessons. One can use these standards to bring students to produce projects that are developed from comparing and contrasting past works of art.

Instructional Strategy

In designing a second grade lesson to produce a Thanksgiving collage, I would use former PA artistís work, vocabulary, and comparisons of former Thanksgiving customs in PA to those presently celebrated.

Reflections:

ÝI will want my students to be able to work through the process of creating an art project inspired by exposure to PA historical events, former cultural practices and works of former PA artists.
